My first lead Yog session at work started today.
There were 2 people that came to the session: Pankaj and Hari. We
started at 8:20am, and ended at 9am. During the session, we covered
the first part of Gayatri Mantra, 3 minutes of Bastrika, 3 minutes of
Kapalbahati, 3 counts of Vahya, 3 minutes of Anolom Vilom, 3 counts of
Bhramari and 3 counts of Udgeeth.
I tried to relax as much as I can, but since it was my first time
leading the group, I was a little nervous.
All in all, I think the first session went well. I'll start early next
time, at 8am., so we can cover more grounds. The foundation is not
there yet, participants seem to have an idea of how to do the
Pranayams but lack in many details, which will eventually come in
time.
Also, last Saturday, I started teaching Marissa, my wife, the
Pranayams. She has a couple of questions:
1. Why can't we do the Pranayams laying down, with your back on the floor?
2. In one of the minor exercises, when rubbing both hands together,
why do we have to raise our hands above our head?

Phil,
I am glad you have started the yog group. No matter two participants only besides you. Go ahead. You go up to five minutes next time. Those who cannot should stay at 3minutes. None should cross the limit of his/hercapacity. Corrrect posture and devotion is all the more important. Laying down position ,as your wife has asked is meant for Shav aasan and not pranayam which needs vertical position of the spine from the ground.Rubbing of palms by raisig hands is again a matter of posture. One has to shed all preconceived notions called poorvagrah in yog. I reached back to Shimla Only yesterday evening and am picking up the threads here. You keep it up. Include Murthi as your devoted copractioner. I am sure he will also pick up soon.
Best wishes.
